We have three kitty-boys that are definitly treated like part of the family and not just furry pets. I told my husband: some people have lots of kids, I have lots of cats. He was surprisingly fine with that (and has a soft spot for all of them).
I started sewing when I was 6, learning from my mom who was a seamstress for Janzen and also did tailoring. I sewed both my prom dresses and various period costumes for history class when I thought I was going to teach high school history. Then my {step}dad died and I realized life was too short and decided to follow my other love: Geology. So I studied rocks at Portland State and was just about finished with my degree when I got pregnant and spent 9 months on the couch - mandaded bedrest. It was miserable, I was depressed and sick and "fat" and nothing fit and so I decided i'd start a crafting blog to give me something to look forward to everyday. Quilting was my therapy, and still is. The Sometimes Crafter blog gave me something beautiful to focus on each day. Something positive during a pregnancy that was miserable.
Suddenly, my math minor made sense. Quilting is math! Duh. One day I will finish that geology degree (cause I love rocks like nothing else), but for now being a mom is more important. I love designing in all forms, but especially love seeing fun designs become quilts. For now, this is my path.
